The Hof Winterfest
We went to the Hof Winterfest on Friday and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf was a special guest. We were sitting just a couple tables away from him. He was with his wife, daughter and grandson. We were hoping to meet him but we were to chicken with all of his security guards around him. We saw them turn so many away, but then there were others who took a quick chance and got lucky. He is our favorite apostle and so it was really special to be so close to him.
Our kids were dancing all night right in front of his table and he and his family were amused. Finally, before the night ended we couldn't take it any longer and we sent Gabe to to bravely go tap on his shoulder. And he did. First he went to the wrong guy and had a conversation with him and came back all proud of himself. We told him he went to the wrong guy. So he did it again and he tapped Pres. Uchtdorf on the shoulder and said, "Hi, I am German and so is my Daddy." and Pres. Uchtdorf smiled and said, "Really? Your Daddy is German?" and then he laughed and patted Gabe's head. Then he ran back to us. The body guard was looking at us and laughing. It was surreal. I filmed him speaking and you can see my video below. What a special night! There was a newspaper reporter there who interviewed me and Manuel and here is the link to the article where you can read about it. http://www.standard.net/topics/scholarship/2011/01/14/25th-annual-hof-german-winterfest-kicks-ogden

Candid Moments
Last weekend was cousin Easton's birthday. He had a Thomas the Train party and my sister made the cutest Thomas cake. The kids made cute little wooden trains too. It was also a week of candid photos. Enjoy!

Happy New Year!
We continued with our family tradition of a feast of appetizers and a camp out in the living room - complete with a late evening of fireworks. Yes, we actually let our kids stay up until midnight on New Years - if they are able too. Of course, it was no problem for them. They weren't ornery and they aren't ornery today.
I mad a roast with creamy horseradish sauce, sweet & spicy chicken (my favorite homemade wing sauce), cheese fondue, steamed mushrooms, a veggie tray, exotic cheeses, a shrimp ring, ginger ale, cracker tray, and creme brulee. I invited guests but they had other plans, so the food will last us all weekend. We played games and watched movies and the kids got to use their new sleeping bags they got for Christmas. We still had a bucket of fireworks let from July so we lit them. It was cold but the kids had fun. I am tired and I hope I can recover. - Oh that picture of Paisley sporting a Lady Ga Ga look was her sneaking into my mascara. So young!
